How to Choose the Right Laminator for

	Your Needs!

As a guide, you may use the following questions to help assist you in choosing a Pouch or Roll laminator.

1. Size - What size documents will you be laminating? Which insert size will be the majority of your laminating?
  • If you are laminating items primarily 11" x 17" and below, a Pouch Laminator would be your most cost effective choice.
  • If you are laminating items larger than 11" x 17" regularly, a Roll Laminator would be your better choice, since they handle the larger items.

2. Film Thickness - The heavier (thicker) the film used to laminate, the more the laminator will cost.
  • If you don't intend to use thick films, then choose models which can laminate in 3-5 mil.
  • If you want to be as versatile as possible, you will want to purchase one of the higher end models which can laminate materials from the thinnest (1.7mil) to thickest (10mil) films.

3. Quantity - How many items at one time?
  • If you have occasional uses and don't ever think you'll laminate more than a handful of items at any time - a Pouch Laminator would probably suit your needs.
  • If you are going to be laminating 100's or 1000's at a time, a higher end Roll Laminator would be a better choice.
  • For small items under 5", even with larger quantities, a Pouch Laminator is the better choice since it is difficult to feed smaller items into a Roll Laminator.
4. Speed - Time is money, right?
  • If you don't have any time committments, choose a less expensive machine since they generally have a slower or fixed motor speed.
  • If you have a bunch of items to laminate and time is an issue, pick a more expensive model, as they will either have a higher motor speed or an adjustable speed control.
